Maxiglass
Maxiglass has been specifically developed as a reinforcing extender in glass reinforced polyester (GRP), glass reinforced concrete and thermosetting polymers such as epoxy's and formaldehyde resins. Maxiglass is produced from pure muscovite mined in Southern Africa. After drying, the product is highly delaminated in a specialised reduction process to provide for a high aspect ratio (platelet diameter to thickness) two-dimensional platelet. The low cation exchange capacity and inertness of Maxiglass render it particularly suitable to the demanding requirements of thermosetting polymers and cement based products. Maxiglass offers a two-dimensional reinforcement at a substantial cost advantage over conventional inorganic as organic fibre reinforcements. The unique properties of Maxiglass increase flexural and tensile strength and modulus. No special mixing apparatus are required as the product has an inbuilt disperse diluency characteristic. The negligible oil absorption leads to very slight resin demand compared with alternate mineral fillers.
The low caution exchange capacity and inertness of Maxiglass render it particularly suitable to the demanding requirements of thermosetting polymers and cement based products.

Microsil
Quartz (or silicon dioxide / silica) is the most common of all minerals. It occurs widely and forms some 12 percent of the earth's crust. Quartz has the chemical composition SiO2 and exists commonly throughout the world in varying degrees of purity. Microsil is utilised in applications where high purity and particle size fineness are most critical. The quartz crystals are mined by underground and open cast methods, generally in druse fissures pegmatites. After mining, the ore is washed and sorted. Following drying, the ore is further reduced in size and then milled in a specialised procedure where free-iron contaminants are removed.
The uses of quartz are vast and include metallurgical applications (where it is reduced to the silicon metal and for the production of ferrosilicons and silica-based refractories) as well as an essential raw material in the production of glass and ceramic materials. To a lesser degree, the milled form is utilised as a filler in adhesive, paint and coating applications. Other uses include scouring powders, core sands for foundries, as well as the established applications as a cement aggregate in the building industry.

PLV - 150
Vermiculite is the geological name given to a group of hydrated laminar industrial minerals, which are all aluminium-iron magnesium silicates, resembling muscovite (mica) in appearance. When subjected to heat, vermiculite has the unusual characteristic of exfoliating, or "popping up" due to the interlaminar generation of steam. The following specifications relate to the vermiculite mined at the Loolekop deposit in the North-Eastern Transvaal. Vermiculite grade PLV-150 is a pure vermiculite, specially processed by proprietary techniques to impart to the product unique chemical-physical properties. It is light biscuit-brown (resembling bentonite) in colour. The "feel" of the product is slightly "oily". This is due to the fact that the fine lamelae "glide" over each other. The characteristic gives it exceptional reinforcement, slip and other related properties, all of which are used in various applications in industry.

Tioxsil
Tioxsil is a super white pigment extender and opacifier for use in paints and polymer systems. It is used as a spacer for Titanium Dioxide. Tioxsil is a hydrated alkali earth metallic oxide silicate. Raw mined ore is initially heat treated. This is followed by semi-autogenous micronising in order to propagate a combination of two and three-dimensional particles. The two-dimensional particles are high in aspect ratio offering excellent coverage. In combining this with a three-dimensional particle, ultimate crystalline duplication of host ingredients is achieved.
Tioxsil extends Titanium Dioxide by up to 15%. Tioxsil fully replaces calcined clays and precipitated silicates. Tioxsil contributes to thixotrophy, thus preventing sagging of paint films and settling of suspended solids in coating containers. Excellent for control of gloss, sheen or lustre within coatings.
