Micronized Group takes resin business on board

Industrial minerals group, Micronized, has entered into a strategic partnership with the resins company formerly known as Polyres.  The alliance enables both partners to tap larger markets, while customers benefit from one stop shopping and nationwide support.

"Through the acquiring of Polyres's intellectual property and assets, we are better able to service our customers' needs" says Otto Smit, executive director of the Micronized Group, a leading mining and minerals processing group that has supplied industrial minerals and services to customers for more than 30 years.  “We now market an expanded basket of goods, and can add more value to customers’ businesses.”

Polyres, formerly trading as Bromark Industries, has been absorbed into the Micronized Group, and now operates as Micronized Resins.

“By virtue of this partnership we have trebled our sales force and now have service centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban,” says Brett Louw, sales director of the Micronized Group and former managing director of Polyres.  “In addition to being a dominant player in the industrial minerals market, we aim to become the resin supplier of choice through customer service and product excellence.”

Micronized’s product range now includes solvent based resins, fillers, extenders and pigments – which make up between 30 and 70 percent of any paint formulation.

Polyres was a dominant supplier of solvent based resins into the coatings industry, predominantly the light industrial and automotive re-finishing sectors, having developed technologies specifically for these markets. Micronized Group has historically been strong in the decorative sector, supplying industrial minerals for exterior, interior and roof coatings.

“The new partnership creates synergy and enables us to expand our markets to those in which we have not previously been dominant,” says Smit.

The Micronized Group has also recently expanded its technical team and now offers customers full confidential technical formulation, testing and support services.
